Purpose
The purpose of this answer is to help clients understand what to expect before a remote support session begins.
Remote support may allow PrismTechTx LLC to review certain issues without an onsite visit, but it still requires client availability, permission, and proper preparation.
What Remote Support Is
Remote support allows PrismTechTx LLC to assist with certain technology issues by viewing or controlling a client’s computer or device through an approved remote support tool after the session is reviewed, coordinated, and approved by the client.
Remote support may be used for:
Software troubleshooting
Email configuration
Account setting review
Browser issues
Printer software review
Remote diagnostics
User guidance
Suspicious email review
Website or platform review
Basic device configuration
When Remote Support May Not Be Enough
Some issues may require onsite service, vendor assistance, or project handling.
Remote support may not be enough for:
Physical cabling
Hardware replacement
Printer physical setup
Network equipment placement
WiFi coverage testing
Device installation requiring hands-on work
Internet outage caused by provider equipment
Hardware failure
Issues where the device cannot connect to the internet
If remote support is not the right fit, PrismTechTx LLC will review the next appropriate step.
Before the Session
Before the remote session begins, the client should:
Be available during the session
Confirm the device that needs support
Save any open work
Close unrelated private or sensitive files
Close financial, medical, legal, or personal documents not related to the support request
Make sure the device is connected to the internet
Keep the phone nearby if the session is coordinated by call or text
Have relevant error messages, screenshots, or account details ready, but do not send passwords, recovery codes, payment card numbers, or unnecessary sensitive information
Avoid sending passwords through email or ticket replies
Client Permission
Remote support will not begin unless the client approves the session. PrismTechTx LLC will not ask clients to allow unknown or unverified remote access outside an approved support session.
The client may be asked to:
Open a remote support link
Run a temporary support tool
Confirm a session code
Approve screen sharing or remote control
Confirm which device is being accessed
Stay available while support is performed
The client may end the remote session at any time.
Passwords and Sensitive Information
Clients should not send passwords through email, text, or ticket replies.
When a password is needed during a remote session, the safer approach is usually for the client to enter the password directly.
PrismTechTx LLC may ask the client to sign in to an account or approve an expected prompt during the session.
Do not approve unexpected sign-in prompts unless PrismTechTx LLC confirms they are part of the support session.
Security and Scam Situations
If the remote support request involves a suspicious email, scam, fake support call, malware concern, account compromise, or unknown remote access tool, stop interacting with the suspicious item before the session.
Do not:
Click suspicious links
Open suspicious attachments
Call numbers listed in suspicious messages
Approve unexpected sign-in prompts
Enter passwords into suspicious pages
Provide payment or account information
Continue talking to a suspicious caller
Allow unknown people to stay connected to the device
Let PrismTechTx LLC know what happened before the remote session begins.
Unknown Remote Access Tools
If someone else asked the client to install a remote access program, or if an unknown person has been controlling the device, tell PrismTechTx LLC before starting a new session.
This is important because unknown remote access may indicate a scam or security concern.
Helpful details include:
Name of the program installed
Who asked for it to be installed
When it was installed
Whether the unknown person connected
Whether payment or account information was requested
Whether banking, email, or financial accounts were opened during that session
Business Client Preparation
Business clients should be ready to confirm:
Business or organization name
Requester name
Affected user or device
Whether the requester is authorized to approve support
Whether the issue affects one user or multiple users
Whether administrative access may be needed
Whether business data, email, payment systems, or customer-facing services are affected
If the session involves business systems, additional verification may be required before remote access begins. PrismTechTx LLC may decline or delay remote access if authorization, access approval, or business ownership cannot be confirmed.
Residential Client Preparation
Residential clients should be ready to confirm:
Name
Device needing support
Issue being reviewed
Whether the device is personal, household, or home office related
Whether anyone else has recently accessed the device
Whether a suspicious message, popup, or phone call was involved
During the Session
During the remote session, the client should:
Stay available unless told otherwise
Avoid using the device for unrelated activity
Ask questions if something is unclear
Mention anything important that appears on the screen
Confirm before entering sensitive information
Let PrismTechTx LLC know if they need to pause or end the session
The session should stay focused on the support request.
After the Session
After the remote session, PrismTechTx LLC may:
Summarize what was reviewed
Explain what was changed
Ask the client to test the issue
Leave the ticket pending briefly
Follow up if additional information, vendor response, testing, or client confirmation is needed
Recommend vendor support
Recommend onsite service
Recommend project handling
Recommend billing or estimate review
Close the ticket if the issue is resolved
Temporary Remote Access
Ongoing Remote Access
Availability and Billing Note
What to Send Before the Session
When helpful, send:
Screenshot of the error
Short description of the issue
Device name or type
Software or account involved
Time the issue started
Whether the issue is constant or intermittent
Whether a suspicious message, link, popup, or call was involved
Do not send passwords, recovery codes, payment card numbers, or unnecessary sensitive information.
Good Preparation Example
I’m available at 2:00 PM.
The issue is on my Dell laptop. Outlook keeps asking for my password and will not load email.
I saved my work and closed my banking and personal documents. I can stay near the laptop during the session.
